    Site Tips Tutorial

  • Make Your Content Good!

  • Don't just slap together some effortless crap-content just so you can say you have a site, and expect people to come to it, use cool tutorials in other cutesites to learn how to make good pixels, and scribbles etc.
  • Don't Steal

  • There's nothing worse than an unhonest STEALER, it's hard to recover from this mistake, so try not to make it. Period.
  • Have Variety!

  • People don't want to go to a site that only has pixels, even if they are pretty darn good!! Add things like tutorials, scribbles, link bases, quizzes, or whatever. Even email forwards you like are good, or a picture of your dog, whatever!!!
  • Make Friends!

  • There's no better way to get hits than to make friends with people!! Apply for affiliates, they'll link you, and you link them. Keep in contact though. Don't make a friend just to get linked on their site. Just check in once and a while to say hi!
  • Apply Apply Apply

  • Directories are a good way to get some publicity to help your site grow. There's plenty out there, to big ones like Shishkabob, or small ones like the kind hosted on freewebs or something. Either way, it's another link, and hopefully another visitor. If they don't accept you at first, improve your site and content, then apply again, what's the harm!!!? Just don't use this method tooo much on directories, and ESPECIALLY affies!
  • A Cutesite IS NOT a hatesite.

  • My Definition of Cutesite: (n.) An original site made by a person to show off their skill of "pixelling" or "scribbling" with visitor content, and CUTE but original layouts! Not to be confused with "hate sites" or "porno sites"
I would listen to this definition if I were you. Don't ruin the name of cutesite with your sick crap.
  • Be Friendly

  • Be friendly to visitors and affiliates. Don't be mean, or clingy. Same goes for when you're in your site, or on theirs. Just be polite and have good manners.
  • No Spamming!

  • Nuff said.
  • Use Color

  • Colors are one of the biggest assets of a cutesite, a good color scheme. Not to loud, and if you're using it on your taggy, or anywhere where text is going to be showing up, make sure it's easy to read!!!!! Keep away from NEON colors.
  • Have Good Grammer.

  • Don't talk like thiis or type LiKe ThiS tO MoOch. Spell correctly too.
  • Be Inspired--Don't Copy

  • You'll see this type of statement, or "Don't Be Over-Inspired" on people's sites, and it is SO true. It's great to like someone's site and use their site as a type of goal, or idea, to base your site on, but don't go overboard, stealing their CSS, layout, and other personal things just to make your site seem cool!
  • Credit EVERYTHING

  • If you use something from someone's site it's important to credit and remember them!! It keeps you out of trouble, and it's just a nice thing to do. Plus, there are a LOT of cool cutesites out there, and sometimes you can loose someone because sites and links are always changing, you want to remember them if you ever want to go back there.
  • Ask for help, but not too much.

  • Most people are happy to help you, but keep in mind, lots of people with awesome sites probably get asked for help A LOT! So chances are they have some FAQs or Tutorials on their site to help people like you. Make sure your question can't be answered there or at some other site, if you don't get a response go somewhere else and politely ask for help. If they help you, be grateful and thank them, or even credit them on your site. If no one answers to your inquiries, you can always post a "HELP WANTED" type thingy on your site/blog/or BBS. ;) It works for me!!
